Artist Biography

I was born in Tokyo and have had the privilege of living around the world, including Sydney during my childhood, Chicago for university, Paris afterwards, and now I’m back in Tokyo. This journey across diverse cultures has profoundly influenced my artistic perspective.

While I have intermittently studied art throughout my life, it wasn’t until I discovered Shunsuke Takawo’s GenerativeMasks project in a Japanese art magazine that I found my true calling. The idea of creating a series of varied works from a single set of code fascinated me. Similar to how the Cubists represented multiple viewpoints within a single plane, I realized that as a generative artist, I could encode a multitude of perspectives, creating a dynamic and multifaceted world in a single artwork.

Through my experiences, I’ve come to understand that different cultures perceive and interpret time in subtly different ways. Although time flows uniformly for everyone, these cultural nuances influence how we see and feel things, and ultimately, how we understand life. My art seeks to explore and express these variations in temporal perception.

Moreover, I strive to counterbalance the negativity often encountered in human interactions in the modern world. Some people reveal the less pleasant sides of humanity, which can be disheartening. Through my artwork, I aim to inspire and uplift, making others feel a sense of hope and positivity about the human experience.
